The new Triara has two competitions. The league is the daily routine: one match every evening against a rival you know a day ahead. The cup is the weekend event: a 64-team knockout bracket. Both are played with the same automatic combat as always, so you do not need to be online at kick-off.
How the league is organised
There are four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Each level is split into leagues of up to a hundred teams (Bronze 1, Bronze 2…), joined by teams run by the game itself so the table is never empty. When every league of a level fills up, the next one opens on its own. New teams start in Bronze, and each season lasts four weeks.
Matchday
Every day at 18:00 UTC (19:00 in the UK during summer time) the round is played. At that moment the game takes a snapshot of the line-ups and simulates every match. If you have not logged in, your team plays with whichever deck is in play; if you have nobody to field, you lose by forfeit.
Your rival is drawn when the previous round closes, using a Swiss system: you face someone with a score close to yours who you have not met recently. That is why the league box in the arena always tells you who you play next and how long is left. With an odd number of teams, one of them rests.
- Win: 3 points and 100 coins.
- Defeat: 0 points and 15 coins.
- Coins are multiplied by level: ×1 in Bronze, ×1.4 in Silver, ×1.8 in Gold and ×2.2 in Platinum.
- Every match also gives development experience: 30 for a win and 15 for a defeat to your starters, and half of that to the bench.
When the round closes you get a notice, also as a push notification, with the result and tomorrow’s rival. The match replay is kept for two weeks.
End of the season
The table is sorted by points, then by wins and then by team power. After four weeks:
- The top three in each league go up a level.
- The bottom three go down, and so do inactive teams.
- The podium earns a prize of 2,000, 1,000 and 500 coins.
There is no other ladder. The old ranks and ELO are gone: your level in Triara is the league you play in, and only the table moves you.
The weekend cup
The cup opens from player level 5. Entry is free and you can sign up until Friday at 19:00 UTC. At that point your league’s 64-team bracket closes; any empty seats are filled by the game’s own teams.
Six rounds are played over the weekend, three on Saturday and three on Sunday, at 11:00, 15:00 and 20:00 UTC. Every round you win doubles the prize:
| How far you get | Prize |
|---|---|
| First round | 25 |
| Second round | 50 |
| Last sixteen | 100 |
| Quarter-finals | 200 |
| Semi-finals | 500 and 1 orb |
| Final | 1,200 and 2 orbs |
| Champion | 3,000 and 3 orbs |
Orbs only come from the cup podium, and they are how you teach skills to your champions: each skill costs one orb. The cup also trains your squad: every round won gives 25 experience and the one that knocks you out, 10. And it never moves you between leagues: a bad weekend does not cost you the season.
Betting at the tavern
The tavern has a board with up to four featured matches from the next round: the leader’s, the closest one, the most powerful one… never your own. You can place three bets a day, one per match, from 10 to 200 coins, until kick-off. The odds come from the same win chance the game uses, aras included, with a small house margin. If a match is not played, you get your stake back.
Friendlies
On top of official matches, you get three friendlies a day against any team you meet on the map. They do not count for the table, but they train your squad: 20 experience for a win and 10 for a defeat. And at the tavern, Brenna serves up to three mugs a day at 75 coins; each mug gives you back one spent friendly.
If you want to know how to prepare your team for all of this, have a look at the aras guide and the champion guide.
